Am I solely at fault though I step rushed on a moving escalator? My sneaker got caught underneath the end lip groove

Question

I fell slamming onto the landing bruising my 2 knees and lower right side back and shoulder. I reported incident to mall security who took my name and number. Also right hand while protecting my face from injury.

Answer

Unless there was a malfunction with the escalator or a part of it was out of place and caused a tripping hazard that the mall and/or maintenance company knew about and did not timely address, there's no liability. You'd need pics, maintenance records, and probably an engineer's inspection to prove it.
